Often touted as one of the best jobs in today's economy, we are seeking a strategic life actuarial professional with proven leadership ability to lead Wawanesa Life's Actuarial function in the identification, development and evolution of Wawanesa's insurance offerings that support and promote corporate strategies. This actuarial position contributes to Wawanesa's success by directing, planning, and implementing key strategic actuarial projects following best practice in the Canadian industry. Key Responsibilities: Stay abreast of industry (i.e. IFRS 17), regulatory (i.e. LICAT) and company changes or trends as they relate to the Canadian insurance industry Oversee and coach a team to ensure the work environment is respectful, challenging and rewarding and employees are maximized to their full potential while contributing to the achievement of Wawanesa's goals Champion initiatives and be receptive to both employee resistance and acceptance, so that genuine understanding and commitment can occur Contribute to and support the development and evolution of Wawanesa's internal policies and practices Develop and maintenance of intellectual capital for entire actuarial team Responsible for all financial reporting duties and support for Appointed Actuary Development, creation and analysis of financial projections (5 year business plan) Lead actuarial team with respect to potential mergers and acquisitions Create Risk policies Support ALM function Liaise with internal and external stakeholders Develop contractual agreements with outside service providers Qualifications: Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA), complying with continuing education requirements Minimum of ten years Life industry experience with three years in a leadership role Strong business acumen with excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to recognize and identify critical issues Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills with the ability to effectively convey ideas in a persuasive and eloquent manner Strong negotiation skills with the ability to present information or arguments in a convincing manner Excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence and gain respect, credibility and confidence from others Ability to make excellent and well justified decisions in complex and high pressure situations Strong project management and time management skills Canadian life and annuity technical experience and/or regulatory knowledge Experience with GGY AXIS platform Strong MS Office skills Ability to develop and implement comprehensive plans and solutions that bridge complex issues that span across time Ability and willingness to travel.To apply:
