About The Position: The Network Engineer works as member of the Network Services team responsible for Ceridian’s global network infrastructure. This role will participate in the design, implementation, operation and support of Ceridian’s global network infrastructure. This infrastructure includes Ceridian’s internet connectivity, wide area networks, local area networks and supporting network service providers in both office and data center locations. Responsibilities: Responsible for following incident and change management policies and processes Utilize proper problem analysis and troubleshooting techniques to isolate and resolve network related issues Assist in troubleshooting technical problems with deep technology expertise Assist in creation of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) artifacts and recommendations for improvement Respond to network equipment faults or capacity related events and initiate corrective actions Review network performance and capacity reporting statistics and recommend changes or improvements Assist with the planning, deployment and testing of software and configuration changes to network devices including switches, routers, access points, firewalls, and application delivery controllers. Prepare technical documentation and implementation plans including effort estimates for network changes Contribute knowledge of best practices to support continuous improvement of network design and operations Create, document and help champion use and adherence to standard processes Engage IT Architects, IT Security, and other stakeholder groups as necessary Assist with the creation of IT Operation budgets for network related functions Assist with the creation of Business Requirements Documents (BRD) for projects Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Network Engineering with five or more years directly related experience in network engineering and operations. (Proven technical experience may be substituted for educational requirement) Experience with the following (or similar) vendor technologies; Cisco Routing and Switching, Cisco and Checkpoint Firewalls, Cisco and F5 application delivery controllers Previous experience in project delivery and network support and operations using ITIL based processes including incident and change management. Working Environment & Physical Demands The majority of work will be office or computer work. Occasional travel in US and Canada will be required to tour data centers or network closets to assess and or upgrade network equipment A passport allowing for Canadian or US travel will be required as part of this job to enable participation in training, planning sessions as needed.
