MANITOBA BLUE CROSS Winnipeg, MB, CANADA Job Type: Full Time Career Level: Experienced Industry: Insurance Job Function: Accounting and Finance Website: JOB TITLE PAYROLL AND BENEFITS ADMINISTRATOR (150917) REPORTS TO Accounting Analyst, Finance JOB SUMMARY The Payroll and Benefits Administrator ensures that all aspects of the payroll cycle for 300+ employees and benefits administration are processed in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with Company and government policies. The incumbent will be detail oriented and have strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills. The incumbent must also be highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, automated payroll processing services and/or accounting software. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Payroll Responsibilities: Processes bi-weekly payroll including both hourly and salaried employees. Maintains payroll system and payroll related data for new employees, adjustments for current employees and terminations, including Record of Employments (ROEs). Creates, maintains and reports on complex payroll related spreadsheets Detects and reconciles payroll discrepancies. Compiles and produces year-end tax forms. Ensures accuracy of statutory remittances. Administers group sales incentive compensation program. Responds to government organizations regarding payroll and employment insurance matters. Benefits & Pension Responsibilities: Manages group insurance and pension benefits including enrolment, reconciliation and terminations. Processes bi-weekly and monthly payments and reconciliations. Communicates benefits related information to employees, and assist employees with forms and procedures as required. Responds directly to employees, management, actuary, custodian and auditor inquiries. Accounting Responsibilities: Provides support to the Finance department with annual budgeting, year-end reporting and other ad hoc queries as it relates to salaries and employee benefits. Prepares payroll and benefit related journal entries and reconciliations. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Dedicated to the principles of exceptional service; committed to anticipating, responding to and addressing customer needs, for both internal and external customers. 5+ years of full cycle payroll processing experience. Has completed or in the process of completing CPM or PCP programs. Strong knowledge of provincial employment standards and CRA regulations and requirements to ensure compliance in all jurisdictions . Advanced skills in Excel required. Working knowledge of Dayforce HCM and MS Dynamics GP considered an asset. Strong knowledge of accounting processes, specifically related to journal entries and remittances. Experience in account reconciliations, budgeting and data analytics with a proven ability to think critically to identify and investigate potential issues. Demonstrated ability to research and analyze complex payroll issues and make recommendations. Self-directed, with exceptional organizational skills and a proven record of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks within varied and dynamic timelines on an ongoing basis. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain information in confidence and exercise good judgment.
