Recreation Connections Manitoba is a dynamic, provincial organization that provides leadership, coordination and a strong voice to the recreation delivery system in Manitoba. RCM works closely with all levels of government, the community and with multiple partners including but not limited to recreation, therapeutic recreation, physical activity and sport sectors. Recreation Connections Manitoba (RCM) is seeking the services of a skilled individual with experience in the recreation sector. The Manager, Programs and Services will provide leadership and support within the context of a policy governed, not for profit organization with a membership base of approximately 400, and an annual operating budget of approximately $280,000. The association operates within a shared leadership model promoting a commitment to a team and collaborative approach to the work of the association, joint decision making and accountability, and builds on the unique skills and abilities of each staff person. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: GENERAL and ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: ? Report to the President of the Board of Directors or his/her designate. ? Work cooperatively with the Office Manager in the development and monitoring of priority plans, performance measurements and management controls. ? Keep abreast of developments in the recreation field and other jurisdictions. ? Provide leadership and support in the development and implementation for all RCM programs and services. ? Manage general office duties (i.e. record keeping, filing, responding to emails, etc.) in a timely and professional manner. ? Assist the Board of Directors in organizing the Annual General Meeting and preparing the Annual Report. ? Represent Recreation Connections Manitoba on committees, at meetings and through correspondence with external groups and organizations, as deemed appropriate. EDUCATION AND TRAINING DUTIES INCLUDE: Annual Provincial Conference Together with the Office Manager: ? Provide support to the Conference Program and Steering Committees in the planning, development and implementation of the annual Provincial conference. ? Liaise with Conference Steering and Program Committees Chairs on a regular basis and provide progress reports on conference administration and tasks. ? Provide leadership in the development and implementation of the sponsorship program, awards program and tradeshow. ? Contribute to the development and implementation of the conference program, marketing, communication, registration and general administration. ? Coordinate and manage the conference sponsorship & tradeshow delegate database. ? Coordinate all volunteer recruitment, management, and scheduling. ? Provide ongoing administrative support and onsite management during the conference. Training Courses & Workshops Together with the Office Manager: ? Liaise with Committee Chair/Co-Chairs, Regional Consultant with MCYO Recreation and Regional Services Branch, instructors, host communities and/or partners as deemed necessary. ? Provide leadership in the development and implementation of regional workshops and professional development training for recreation professionals, practitioners and facility operators/managers. ? Prepare all correspondence and reporting information for workshop and course registrations. COMMUNICATION DUTIES INCLUDE: Together with the Office Manager: ? Assist in the development and maintenance of the Recreation Connections Manitoba website ? Create, solicit, edit and prepare content for the Recreation Connections Manitoba website. ? Create, solicit, edit and prepare content for the bi-weekly electronic bulletins. MEMBERSHIP DUTIES INCLUDE: Together with the Office Manager: ? Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies to achieve a growing and vibrant membership base. ? Provide expertise to all RCM committees, to ensure Board policies are followed and the associations’ strategic plan is achieved. ? Develop strategies to provide the membership with a range of educational and networking opportunities. Membership duties continued: ? Support communication efforts to ensure that all members are informed of the activities and issues of the Association and the sector. ? Prepare RCM reports, positions and/or messages, together with the Board of Directors, that assist members to be advocates in their communities. SUPPORT TO PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT INCLUDING: ? Develop, facilitate and nurture strategic partnerships with government and nongovernment agencies, allied organizations and the private sector to further the mission, vision and goals of RCM. ? Serves as the principal liaison with Manitoba Children and Youth Opportunities/Recreation and Regional Services Branch and other regional, provincial and national sector related agencies, associations and organizations, as deemed appropriate. SUPPORT THE FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY OF RCM INCLUDING: Together with the Board Treasurer and Office Manager: ? Administer approved financial plans, budgets and investments as part of the annual planning and budgeting cycle and present recommendations to the Board of Directors and/or the appropriate committee. ? Ensure that all expenditures are made according to policy and executive limitations. ? Maintain accurate financial records. QUALIFICATIONS ? A degree in Recreation or related field or an acceptable combination of postsecondary education and experience. ? Previous work experience in the recreation sector is required. ? General knowledge of the financial, operational and governance protocols of the notfor-profit sector and history of proven success. ? Management experience would be an asset but is not a pre-requisite. ? Hands-on experience in program development and event management. ? Proven ability and experience to build collaborations, partnerships and relationships. ? Proven ability to set priorities, allocate resources and assure a well organized office. ? Proficient with computer applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, internet and email. CORE COMPETENCIES & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS ? A recreation professional with a thorough understanding of the recreation field with a municipal, provincial and national perspective. ? Self-motivated, highly organized and results oriented. ?
