In your role as Payroll Clerk at The North West Company (NWC), you provide payroll services to both NWC and The North West Company International (NWCI). Your Role: Accurately key all clerk type changes for assigned banners within the pay period deadlines; Verify all store clockings are received and contact store managers to request outstanding items; Ensure data entry of new hires, rehires, and terminations for casual and part time staff; Enter freight/sealift/inventory wages and other manual timesheets into Human Resource Management Systems; Manage the departments’ organization within pay period deadlines and according to procedures and assigned banners; Print Personnel Change Forms and other payroll documentation and distribute to the Payroll Administrators; Sort and distribute all incoming mail and faxes; Print and seal pay stubs and sort for mailing to stores and corporate support offices. Prepare payroll envelopes for shipping and deliver to the mail room within established timelines; Accurately and timely complete payroll activities to process and/or close the payroll period, month, and/or year; Perform a variety of clerical functions such as reporting, letter creation, photocopying, filing, faxing, hardcopy mailings, and ordering of all payroll office supplies; and Know how to complete the store clockings’ procedures for assigned banners. Desired Skills & Experience: A minimum of one year of general office experience, preferably payroll related; Demonstrated ability to work with highly confidential information; Proven organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills; Previous numeric data entry experience required; Post-secondary education in a related field or willingness to enroll in payroll courses is preferred. Basic accounting knowledge is an asset; Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products required, with an emphasis on Excel; Detail conscious with a high degree of accuracy; and Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of internal and external customers.
